What is your current state-of-mind?
Psithurism.
My state is twirling between the sound of rustling leaves in the fall forest. As the majestic and towering oaks are shedding their leaves, so am I transitioning towards the inward, cushioned by shorter days and darker nights.
What is your favourite quote?
”I am neither from the East nor from the West, no boundaries exists within my breast” - Rumi
What is your most treasured scent memory?
The heavenly scent of Persian rose water is connected deeply with olfactory memories from my journeys to the Middle East and Asia.
Which living person reflects ”growth” best to you?
My son Noah.
Not only am I witnessing his growth, but he also reflects it back to me, by being my greatest teacher in spite of his mere five years. The experience of raising children ends up teaching you much more than what you teach them. I am once again discovering the world – and my self – through his curiosity and by watching him encountering and journeying through the universes around him.
What is luxury to you?
Youth. Health. Time. Provision. And authentic companionship.
When do you feel most aligned?
After the recalibration of unitive meditation. When lost in play. By losing myself in creative exertion. During the early hours of dawn.
What is your favourite plant right now?
Nigella Sativa, which is an annual flowering plant with white and sometime blue-tinted petals. It has very fine and thin leaves, almost resembling capillaries, and the follicles contain black seeds which have been used medicinally for thousands of years.
When do feel most renewed?
After ritual bathing in water. Water is an extremely powerful element, which has been proven to memorise and transport information. Every time I am in contact with water, I feel my energy is renewed and my mind rewires, and I taste peace and balance.
How do you cultivate your personal growth?
By stripping away all that is not. I find growth is less about attaining and acquiring and more about giving up; veils, ego, or attachments. I have found all wisdom traditions pointing towards this very same minimal essence. Less is pure.
When do you feel most in bloom in your life?
Phases of effulgence come over me from time to time. Particularly when outer journeys pair with inner expansion, and one is moved by exploring new trails, paths, and people of heart. That is really the most fertile soil for me...
What is your super power?
I experience the world in a hundred billion unseen colours and unspoken languages. I am a hybrid of trajectories, cultures, traditions, and states – as a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic being who is part vessel, and part caravan.
