Dreaming The World Into Being

We are all dreaming the world into being. Not the kind of dream that belongs in the domain of sleep, but the waking dream we create with our eyes open. With our ideas of reality, we can shape the world, we live in, and if we re-learn the sacred art of dreaming, we can create a better life for ourselves, our species - and the Earth.

Most indigenous traditions around the world operate with dreaming as a scared discipline. The aborigines of Australia believe that it was in dreamtime that the world was created, and they follow the dream lines when they go on a vision quest. For the shaman in the Americas, the task is to envision the possible before the probable. They don’t think of dreaming as a fantasy or hallucination, but rather the power to co-create reality with the help of the Universe.

Modern physics describe what these ancient wisdomkeepers have long known. That all of creation arises from and returns to a larger intelligence, a cosmos, a dreamtime. A creative matrix that does not exist in a place outside of us, but rather within. it infuses all matter and energy, connecting every creature, every rock, every star, and every ray of light or bit of cosmic dust.

The power to dream is the power to participate in creation itself.

Waking up from the collective Nightmare

When we’re unaware that we all share the power to co-create reality with the help of the universe itself, power slips away from us and our dream turns into a nightmare. We begin to feel we’re the victims of an unknown and frightening creation that we’re unable to influence or change. Events seem to control us and trap us. The way to end this dreadful reality is to awaken to the fact that it, too, is a dream created by society or other peoples’ beliefs and recognize your ability to write a better story, one that the universe will work with us to manifest.

In his book Courageous Dreaming: How Shamans Dream The World Into Being, Alberto Villoldo, PhD and medical anthropologist, describes how it requires a visceral understanding to experience it in every cell of our body. In fact, the intellectual understanding of our ability to create reality forestalls the kind of dreaming we’re capable of. If we don’t get beyond the mere intellectual aspect, we’ll end up lowering the bar and creating a far less glorious and beautiful experience than we’re capable of crafting. When we lack courage, we have to settle for the world that is being dreamed by our culture or by our genes — the nightmare.

The Courage to Dream Bravely

According to Villoldo, the mind will resist at first when presented with the choice between having the life you want by creating the reasons why you can’t have that life. You can have joy and peace, or you can have that big black bag full of all the sorrowful incidents and accidents that happened to you in your childhood, your past or in your last relationship. You can have your wounds, or you can have your glory. You can live the life of a victim, burdened by the traumas of your past, or you can live the life of a hero. But you can’t do both. If you want to feel empowered, you need to make a conscious decision to dream a sacred dream and practice courage. To dream courageously and be empowered, you must be willing to use your heart and make a conscious decision to dream a sacred dream of joy, peace, glory and envision the life you want. It takes courage to taste infinity.

Shamans of the Andes and the Amazon believe that we can only access the power of this force by raising our level of consciousness. When we do so, we become aware that we’re like a drop of water in a vast, divine ocean, distinct yet immersed in something much larger than ourselves. It’s only when we experience our connection to infinity that we’re able to dream powerfully. In fact, it’s our sense of separation from infinity that makes us become trapped in a nightmare in the first place. To end the nightmare, to reclaim our power of dreaming reality and craft a better reality, we must dream a life of peace, health, and abundance into reality.

Your Dreams are made of a universal weave that can never be lost. Their magic threads will keep circling back to you for your to Remember and Receive.
— Semine

As you awaken to your power to dream, you begin to flex the muscles of courage, let go of limiting beliefs and push past your fears. You can begin to create truly original dreams that lay dormant in your soul and watch your dream seeds turn into strong trees that bear fruit for you and others.

For the modern Earthkeepers, dreaming reality is not only an ability, but a duty, one we must re-learn and learn to perform with grace and love so our grandchildren will inherit a world of more peace and abundance.

To prosperous dreaming!
