December Cold Moon
The December Cold Moon is the longest Full Moon of the year. It will appear full for three days, as if the creator had meant for us to see light in the darkest days of the year around the Winter Solstice.
Known as the Cold Moon, the last Full Moon of the year is a time to focus on how we feel, as we are approaching the completion of the year. The Cold Moon is an invitation to come back to our hearts, prioritize nurturing ourselves, and to become the safe space we are craving - to become our own home.
The Homebody
The December Cold Moon invites us to cultivate the comfort, security, love and understanding, we are yearning for in the outer world, in our own field and homes. And to gift the feeling of home to ourselves first, before we share it with others.
This Full Moon is here to remind us of the value of knowing ourselves emotionally, to nurture ourselves well and tend to our emotional needs. It's about the deliberate tending of home, family and community through our emotional garden and an unwavering commitment to showing ourselves the same nurturing we offer others.
Coming Full Circle
Full Moons are the peak and maturation point of the lunar cycle and mark the completion of a chapter of our lives. At this time of the month, we witness the result of our work and reap what we sow since the previous New Moon took place, two weeks prior, but also throughout the last six months, after the New Moon in the same Zodiac sign now activated by the Full Moon.
During these last days of the year, it’s time to celebrate and appreciate the power of lessons learned through the year. The December Cold Moon casts a light on, where we are at in our emotional and personal maturation journey.
Family themes and family relationships are likely to be a significant area of focus for many of us at this time. On the days around the full moon, we have an opportunity to deepen our awareness of what family means to us, what security means to us, how we try to get our needs met and generate safety, and work on re-parenting ourselves and establishing a sense of inner safety.
As we use our intuition to navigate through these last days of the year, this is the time to be creative with finding ways to show up emotionally with courage and confidence. Look to inner beauty, gratitude and awe to guide you instead of seeking comfort outside yourself.
Celebrate your Victories
Full Moons bring an energy of release, culmination, and conclusion, and they show us how our efforts are coming to fruition, as it casts a (full) light on, where we have grown through a cycle.
During the December Cold Moon, we can reflect on our victories, big and small: Every mountain climbed, every hurdle cleared, every act of quiet courage. These are the moments that fortify us, and each one deserves our appreciation.
Take the time under this Full Moon to celebrate your journey and embrace the light, as you get ready to step into the future with an open heart–ready to shine!
This is a powerful time, where things are coming full circle. Through the year you might have been tested on what is truly meaningful to you and who your loved ones really are. Your resilience has been tested. And now you are clearer on, what you want to take with you into the new year.
Lighting a New Path
As we celebrate our accomplishments and tend to our emotional needs, we also create space for our dreams and visions for the future. During these darkest days of the year, it’s a good time to call forth our dream seeds, so they can be illuminated by this special lunar moment.
Just like seeds need darkness to sprout (some even need the cold), the Cold Moon casts a light on our dreams and longings, so they can take shape in the new year. As one cycle completes, a new one can soon begin and bring with it new opportunities for growth, change and hope.
This beautiful luminary in the sky reminds us of the ability to shine brightly in the darkest of times, as it lights up a new path for you. And even though we might not see the path or the change we yearn for, it is beginning to take shape in the darkness of our dreams for the next year. This is the time to connect to our vision through our emotions from a sense of self, where we do not need to chase something outside of us, but call our desires home instead.
Tell your stories, dreams and hopes to the brightest full moon of the year, and know, that She is listening and watching over you. Like the most patient mother who sends you only her best intentions and want you to shine as brightly as her.
