Oyster Safari
West Coast Treasure Hunting
The Wadden Sea National Park—UNESCO World Heritage— offers you unexpected and overwhelming events. One way to experience the world’s most important tidal zone is going oyster harvesting before the season ends in April.
How & When
Oyster Safari always takes place at low tide and is especially big on the day before New Year’s Eve on the island of Rømø, where there is a tradition to go Oyster Picking and toast for a new year a in a pair of Wellingtons and a bottle of champagne. It is of course a secret, where the good places are, but even though, you might not know someone to tell you where to go, you can just jump in the car, and follow the crowd. They know where to go. Or even better, maybe dare and stop to ask the locals and get a chat.
Happy Hunting!
