December

December is an invitation to connect with the energies of Love and Magic, as we come together and take a pause to reflect on our journey. Diving deep into the wisdom of our hearts offers a much-needed amnesty of Peace and Power — a place where we can tap into the root of our wild beauty and recover the source of our unique offerings to the world.

With its fairy-tale magic, festive traditions, and rituals, December calls us to dwell in our winter cocoons, pause with our loved ones, and ignite our inner stars through the magic of play and the awe of the wild child that still lives inside each of us.

As we enter the first month of Winter, it is time to nurture our inner light and tend to our inner world in soft and gentle ways. December is a beautiful moment to reflect on the year that has passed, with all its trials and tribulations, and to ponder intentions and changes for the year ahead.

Finding the stars within

Astrologically, we are entering the mysterious energy of Sagittarius Season, which invites us on a quest for truth, meaning, and knowledge. Sagittarius inspires us to peel back layers of conditioning and reconnect with our undomesticated selves, so we can find the root of our wild and wondrous beauty. This is a time that challenges us to live more authentically, get radically honest, and deepen our connection with our natural and spontaneous self.

The arrival of Sagittarius Season brings a much-needed boost of optimism and a breath of fresh air after the intensity of Scorpio Season in November. Scorpio guided us on a journey into darkness, into our unconscious, helping us become more intimate with our shadow and gain a deeper awareness of our psychological and emotional nature, including the hidden motivations and intentions that influence our choices and behaviours.

It offered an invitation to deepen our relationships with ourselves and others, and challenged us to release our attachment to the people and situations that had lost purpose or meaning in our lives.

After an intense period of soul-searching, Sagittarius Season now allows us to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Sagittarius encourages us to celebrate life and reminds us to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. This time of year teaches us that after death, loss, and endings come rebirth and new beginnings. Sagittarius invites us to find the lesson and the higher meaning within our experiences, inspiring us to approach challenges with confidence, courage, and awareness. It reminds us to see crises as opportunities, using the obstacles we encounter to fuel our motivation rather than as truths that hold us back.

The sign of Sagittarius is the Archer, aiming his arrow towards the future. Sagittarius Season opens the doors for us to connect to the stars within, helping us discover what lights us up and ignite our personal star-qualities. December begins this chapter, offering us a glimpse into our own glow.

Light up your Inner Sun

December also marks a turning point in the Wheel of the Year with the Winter Solstice — the time of the longest night and the shortest day. From the Northern Hemisphere, this is the day when the Sun reaches its lowest point on the horizon. When the Sun stands in Sagittarius, it traces a low arc across the sky, never rising high enough to brighten our days or warm the Earth. As the dark time of the year approaches, a mood of mystery permeates everything. The outer sun of the natural world has faded, and the inner sun within us is ready to grow strong.

Since ancient times, astrology and mystery schools have spoken of the “outer sun” and the “inner sun.” The outer sun reaches its peak when the Sun stands in Gemini at the Summer Solstice. It teaches us the outer mysteries of Creation by filling us with the abundance of sensory impressions from the outer world. The inner sun of the Winter Solstice speaks from the depths of the soul, teaching us the inner mysteries of Creation through the awakening of our inner life force: the spark that ignites our creative powers. As we traverse the cycle of the year again and again, we learn that the inner and outer are two sides of the same divine mystery of (Co)Creation. In the heart of Winter, we can tap into our creative powers and plant the mental seeds for the year to come.

As the outer brilliance fades, we are offered a unique opportunity to turn our attention to the power of the heart and mind. If we consciously step back from the demands of the holiday season and carve out space for contemplation, journalling, or meditation, this time opens the doors to divine guidance from our higher self, our soul, which whispers where to go and what to do next. During December, our dreams may become richer, and our sensory awareness more subtle.

This is the time to STARGAZE

in the darkness of Winter

and CONNECT with our own inner sparkle,

REMEMBERING that we are all made of stardust.

A Quest for Truth and Meaning

Amid the celebrations and festive days, December also opens personal doors for us, if we carve out moments to reflect on our relationship with our beliefs, our life philosophy, and our quest for the meaning of life. During this time of year, we are supported in casting light on what is true for us, what is meaningful, and what life is truly about. As you move through the month, you might reflect on questions such as: What are my beliefs? Where have I fallen prey to illusions? What are the true sources of my life force and joy?

The period between Christmas and Epiphany — known as the Twelve Holy Nights — is an especially important time of year. It offers space for reflection and reconnection with our spiritual selves, sowing the seeds for the next twelve months. You can read more about the Twelve Holy Nights in a later post in December.

For now, open your mind to the perfect landscape of December: ask questions, seek answers, and challenge existing beliefs, as we sit with the darkness and allow the mysterious magic of receiving all the answers from within.

REWRITE your script

As we approach the New Year, December is a wonderful time to expand a creative practice. Whether you are into journalling, drawing, walking, meditating, or something entirely different, this is the moment to begin gathering a practice together.

2026 marks the chapter of a brand-new beginning, offering a unique opportunity to rewrite the inner scripts we live by. It invites us to challenge our belief systems, and to take action to re-write them if they are not for our highest good.

Walking and writing are my own favourite tools for insight, and my first book A Winter Journey was written as a medicine walk, where insights from nature, ancestors, and life itself offered clues and messages for my path forward. You can read more about the art of the Medicine Walk here.
