March New Moon
The March New Moon is here to catapult us towards new growth—in transformative and expansive ways. We can use this time as a last retreat to create a space in our hearts to envision the future, we wish to see, and tend to the lives we wish to lead.
In the Northern Hemisphere, we are in a special in-between season, standing on the threshold between winter and spring. The sun has returned, gifting us many more hours of light each day, and we can start to sense snippets of spring around us as small plants sprout and birds return.
Like the buds of the willow trees, which welcome our tired winter hearts with a soft, velvety embrace, we too can feel our own longings beginning to take shape. New ideas form, visions arrive, and urges stir, longing to grow and take shape. At the same time, after a long Winter that has drained our energetic batteries (and our Vitamin D levels), we may feel especially tired and in need of nurturing.
The March New Moon comes to soothe impatience and confusion, acting as a sacred container that invites us to pace ourselves at this threshold of the astrological New Year, which arrived with the Spring Equinox.
There are so many promises waiting, so much beauty to unfold, so many miracles to witness, but we do not need to rush to meet them. At this time, we are allowed to stay in our cushioned buds—just for a little while.
Thresholds and Crossroads – The Eclipse Season’s Final Chapter
The March New Moon also marks the closing chapter of this Eclipse season, which opened with the full moon earlier in the month, sealing a window of intensity with clarity and revelation.
Eclipses realign our paths, often in unexpected ways, but now, as the dust settles, we gain a deeper understanding of where we stand. What was once hidden emerges into the light, and what felt uncertain begins to take shape.
This is a moment to pause, process, and integrate the wisdom that has been unveiled. Try to find a moment around the days of the New Moon to honour what might have revealed itself during the past two weeks.
Becoming Friends with (Your Inner) Chaos
The Moons of March are here to help you pay attention to the still, soft voice within you—the voice of your psyche, your soul. The March New Moon is here to ensure you listen closely to that voice, the guiding light within you that knows where to go, what to say, when to rest, and when to move forward.
The March New Moon takes place just after the Spring Equinox, making it especially powerful. Think of it as a point of pure potential, where anything is possible, and the seeds of intention you are planting are exponentially powerful.
In times of transition, the world can feel chaotic. The new begins to grow, and we are simultaneously saying goodbye to what has been. Strong emotions can rise alongside clear visions of how we want to move forward in life and where we wish to create change in the world.
During this New Moon, try to practice softness towards yourself and befriend this time of transition as a natural part of the great cycle of life. For a long time now, throughout the entire Winter season, we have been cocooned in the darkness, which, as challenging as it can be, has also served as a void of creation. Seeds grow in darkness, and dreams live there—on the inside.
With the arrival of the Spring season, we can feel the energies begin to shift. As much as we can now greet the sunshine, flowers, and butterflies, it can also stir up confusion and chaos about who we are, who we were, and who we want to become as we move forward.
Think of the New Moon as a calm balm for the thoughts, worries, and ideas that may appear in your psyche. Be patient with what is starting to grow, and try to love yourself through these changes.
This New Moon is your invitation for one last retreat, preparing you for new life to unfold. Whatever you might have dreamed of, wished for, or envisioned in the dark void of Winter has already begun to grow into small seedlings with the returning light. And, like all new life forms, we must be extra careful and so, so tender. We must nurture our seeds with patience and softness—just like a mother would tend to her newborn child.
This is not a time to rush headlong into the world and your future, but a time to practice patience and tend to your longings. As much as we might feel called to run out into the world to find solutions and inspiration for our dreams and visions, the March New Moon is the perfect container to cultivate tenderness and patience for your precious soul seedlings—just a little while longer.
New Moon blessings to all,
